Extang Black Max Tonneau Cover

Of course... this is for my fishing truck.

If I get one of these for my truck... am I going to learn to hate it? Are they really waterproof? I rarely haul anything in my truck, and these look like they're easily removed. With the gas prices going up...up... up, I'm thinking this would reduce some of the drag and help my mileage.

What's your opinion on these?

according to automotive aerodynamics engineers, the covers are worth about 5% better mileage on average. a buddy of mine has a fiberglass one that is hinged. waterproof and no need to remove. don't know how much it cost though. irbfishin

My new Avalanche came with one and it never leaked a drop all the way from Florida to Jamestown, NY and most of the way was rain (snow from State Collage, PA up). This one came from Chevy so call your local dealer and find out who makes them. Bill P.

I had one on my Dodge and it was all right. I say only all right because I did have some problems with it. In really hot weather, it would sag and flap a lot when running down the highway. In cold weather, if you made the mistake of taking the cover off, the material was so stiff that there was no way you could get it back on.

Gil had one on his Ford F150 and he had someone take a knife to it and slash it all to ribbons. There's nothing you can do about that, but it's a problem with any of the soft covers. They're not secure at all.

I have a Pace Edwards Rolltop tonneau cover on my truck now and I do like this one. Slatted aluminum covered with black vinyl, it can't be cut through.

Anything that you put over the box will help with milage. There's a number of rigid tonneau covers that cost less than the rolltop type, but those work best for weatherproof, and security.

Thanks everyone.

I went ahead and ordered one and thanks to Jerry, I got a pretty good deal! He saved me $15.00 anyway.
