First Day out, (well second attempt).

Well, as everyone knows I got my boat back Friday morning. AFter I got out of work I couldn't wait to get out and just try my luck in a few spots. I got to the launch about 5pm on Friday and back her in , and started the motor. I went ot put my truck away and as I walked back, I noticed my boat sitting wierd in the water, kinda back heavy......(everyone at once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) THE PLUG! You have got to be kidding, 6 months, and $11k later, and I am going to sink the damn thing in the first 5 minutes! Long story short, turned on the bilge, ran and got my truck, pulled it out, emptied the water , and just went home before it got any uglier.

Fast forward to this morning. I had to bartend until about 3:30 this morning, so my buddy calls at 6:30am and asks if we are going fishing. I said, what the hell I am awake now. We were in the water by 7:15am and at our first spot by 7:25. My buddy proceeded to pull the first legal of the year on a texas rigged salamander, then proceeded to pull 2 more fish in the next 75 yards down through the area. At that point we were working with the wind at our back and kind of getting blown through the area rather quickly, so we pushed back into the creek channel, and proceeded to turn around and work back into the wind. Within 10 minutes I caught 2 fish equaling about 6lbs (2.5lb & 3.5lb). So we had 5 bites in that creek, and had 4 legals going about 9.5lbs. Not too bad, but all 5 fish came off about a 100 yard stretch of area. 4 keys to the success of that area stood out, Water color, depth, wood cover, and water temp. The areas before and after this 100 yard stretch lacked at least one of those components, and was therefore null and void of any life what so ever. The area we were fishing had shad, northerns, perch , bluegill, crappie, and bass. We attempted to fish another creek, that seemed to be closer to choclate milk than anything else, and we just ended up pulling water. So I decided by noon to head in, I am going to attempt to sleep now before I go into work tomorrow morning......I mean, go to Miller Park tomorrow for the Brewer game.. tailgating starts at 10:30a.

Take care all,

Chris
