OT:  Bass Boat Etiquette ~ Passing stationary boats.

I fish mainly in the Everglades canals and I was wondering what the opinion is on passing stationary boats.

It appears that passing them quickly on a plane is less disruptive than slowing to pass them. You are away from them faster and the wake is less disturbing. In fact, that is the way I prefer to be passed.

Of course this doesn't apply to No Wake Zones.

Which it comes to high performance bass boats, I'd rather they fly by leaving minimum wake. When it comes to the huge cabin cruisers that go by us on the rivers here, anything more than headway speed should result in shots fired into their wheelhouse.

But the average small boat guy has no clue that a HP hull on full plane leaves less wake, and will get all bent out of shape if you pass him flat out.
