Scales

What type scales do you use for weighing your fish? I'm having a problem coming up with anything fairly accurate. Thanks

Search eBay for "Chatillon" to turn up the best scales in the world--accurate, durable, and many are beautiful--brass bodies which will shine like the sun. And they will hang nicely on the side of your tackle box or boat.

"Seeins how" this is all for fun ..... I'll be using a simple hand held Rapala scales for the "weigh ins" at the MTC next weekend at Edgar Evins. If anyone has something more accurate they wish for me to use ...... bring them along.

So far every scale I have seen has been precisely the right size for its location on the fish it was on. Bob

I can bring the electronic scales our club uses if you want me to. A 5 Gal bucket sits on it and we put the fish in a plastic bag into the bucket to weigh them. Ronnie fishing.guide@about.com http://fishing.about.com Ronnie

I've been reading and learning since I found this group and I thought I'd throw this out there -

My son in law (main partner / competitor) and I both got the 50lb Rapala Sportman Scales at BPS this past Christmas ... we went to use them this week as we finally started getting some bites ... BOTH are DEAD. (At home to test I hung a 4lb bag of sugar and all I got was 0 lb 0 oz) ... I called BPS where I bought them and they said they had about a dozen come back to them that day alone ... I just replaced mine with the new 50 lb Berkley Unit ... and it seems to work (it read 4lb 0oz) .... plus get this ... it actually comes with instructions. ... I really expected better from the Rapala ...

I'm looking forward to hearing the results of the MTC ...

I got a Rapala ProGuide digital scale with a ten fish weight memory a week or so ago. It didn't come with a much in the way of instructions, but there is a card a little biger than a business cardx with everything you need to know. I hope mine holds up better than yours. I have had bad luck with scales. I been thinking about getting a mechaincal spring scale just because it can't totally fail like an electronic.
