Garmin 178c?

I was thinking of putting a GArmin 178c on my bow? I was wondering if anyone used the 178c on their bow and get their opinions on it? Also if their are any comparable units, or really any units for that matter with GPS that anyone would recommend for the bow? I will also take any dash suggestions that anyone might have. The Garmin 2006c kind of fell through after the repairs, and I think I still have the original Hummingbird from 1989 :-D. Great for depth, but temp gauge doesn't work.

THanks everyone!

I had the 168 blue screen on the boat I just sold and it was great. The software maps that came with it were very good compared to the Lowrance I have now.

I would recommend the 178c as it is color and slightly better resolution, but otherwise a very similar unit. I think it also has a slightly wider screen. I know one of my distributors has them for under $600 brand new, but they are out of stock right now so I think it may be a discontinued model. I would also check EBAY as often the disc models can be had through guys who buy them up and resell them there. Make sure you ask if its NEW or RECONDITIONED. I recently bought a new 240 that turned out to be reconditioned when I received it. Nothing wrong with reconditioned, but I think they should sell for about half what new should sell for. The reconditioned units do carry a factory warranty also.

The 178C also does split screen nicely like the 168 I had.
