Smithland Pool, ILL quest

anyone here know of a public ramp between Smithland and Paduch< just enuf for 6-8 boats? Or, wher I might find that information? Woul appreciate it greatly.

Dave, from your description, I assume you are not putting in on Smithland pool.

There is a ramp at Smithland, KY, another just downstream from the Smithland locks, on the IL side. But both are little more than a sand bar. There may be actually ramps there, but they get a lot of sand deposited on them. The one just south of the locks is a small tree covered lane and may be almost hidden from the nearest road.

I have seen them from the river.

Here is the website for the Ohio River navigation charts. I see a ramp at Brookport, on the Illinois side. Only one marked on the Illinois side downstream of Smithland pool.

I have always put in at Golconda on Smithland pool and locked down when I wanted to fish the Cumberland river. Of course that means you take the chance of getting stuck there for hours.
