May 22nd outing

Fished from 6:30am to 1pm. In the first hour and a half I caught 5 largemouth, 4 were legal including a 17 and a 15. So the fish were in this area really good. So we bailed to leave these fish for this coming Saturday.

We spent the rest of the day fishing areas we found on the map and I had never fished before. We managed a crappie, dogfish, rockbass, and I caught one more largemouth that didn't bump. The good thing to come out of it, I know what I am missing at least in these areas. We are to the point know where the Gar and Carp are in the really shallow areas pretty thick, and stirring things up pretty good. Our smallmouth bite seems to be solid, but those fish change with the weather more than almost any other fish I run into. Saturday should be interesting, like I said I am thinking we will need 18lbs to win, and the 4 legals I had yesterday barely got me to 10lbs.

Oh well it should be a good time.

I am going to be on Winnebago for the tournament, unless I get completely blown off it, which is possible this time of year. So that is why I spent some time on Butte Des Morts this past weekend. Plus I always have spots on the Fox in Oshkosh, and could make the run to the Wolf if I needed to. I just would rather fish for 7 hours than run for 3 and fish for 5.

The tournament is the Oshkosh Bassmasters open tournament out of Rainbow park in oshkosh.

Take care,

Chris

I'd rather catch for 1 than fish for 7...

Make the run if your best fish are there, you've got that nice rig...

Warren,

Really the WOlf draw is more of a Shanty syndrome at times than actual quality. Winnebago has the quality, that is where I have spent all my time, I just worry about the transition period I will be running into. I have been catching fish all spring, and I don't see why this weekend will be any different. I will give it hell, and see what happens. I am going to just run a few spots tomorrow and not fish, just to get one last look at them before Saturday.

I have a flexible plan, and me and my partner are comfortable with our plan, as it sits right now. I will keep you up to date.
