Bass: A love story.

She mocked me all weekend. She was the last thing I thought about at night and the first thing I thought about in the morning. Friday - I offered her a crankbait. She accepted it. She jumped as I brought her closer and spit it out. I tried to get her attention for the rest of the day but she wasn't interested. Saturday - I offered her almost everything I had. Senkos, lizards, tubes, crankbaits, jerkbaits. She ignored them all. She would give me the cold shoulder the rest of the day. Sunday - I again came to her with offers of standard fair - Senkos and crankbaits. I looked through my collection for something that would be irresistible. I had tried them all...or so I thought. I grabbed it from the back of the box and tied it on. I flipped it to her and twitched it. A splash! A tug! I pulled her closer again. She jumped and she jumped again. I reached down and grabbed her. Even covered in dirt and pond muck, she was beautiful. I gently took the Skitter Pop away from her and put her on my scale. 4.0 pounds. She was mine at last. I gave her one last look and slipped her back into the water. She slowly swam away. We'll meet again someday.
