Little Rain never hurt anyone..Out Today
I have today off from work but have the kids when my wife leaves for work.
Now while she really doesn't mind me fishing, she does mind when I come home
late. We agreed last night I would be back from fishing by 9 a.m sharp Forecast today was for temps in the 60's and scattered showers. Since I
bought the RLM (Rubber lipped mudsucker)( My New Jon boat), I have been
fishing only one lake here where I keep the boat locked up. More out of
convienance than anything else, loading that thing up on the top of my Monte
Carlo is a pain in the butt. As most of you know I get to fish almost every single morning for a few
hours. Having 4 lakes within a mile of my house helps of course. But today I
decided it was time to load the RLM up and head to the bigger lake(
Mountaintop lake) This is a man made lake that has been around for about
10-15 years, Most of this lake is wood, sticks stumps brush, you name it.
You can't fish more than 20 feet of shoreline without hitting submerged wood
or brushpiles The morning started bad, 1st fish hits my speedworm, I set the hook, fish
jumps and spits the hook. 2nd fish same thing, I check the hook it's sharp,
must be the hookset. I start buzzing the speedworm and it gets nailed by a
pickerel. I keep buzzing it and it gets smashed again but no fish there.
Jeez I'm thinking I might be home before 9, but I vow that the next hookset
will be true. Next fish hits and the line starts running, I reel down and use the
Charles Summers Gorilla hook set just to see my line come flying back at me
with no hook, no worm no nothing DAMN!!, had to be a pickerel. At least
that's what I told myself. I continued to fish and hook into a nice bass but it's hung up in the
sticks and eventually gets off. Does it get any worse than this? ......Nope,
as the next 7 bass are all hooked good and all make their way into my boat.
Quick pictures and quicker release as most were loaded with eggs. The
fishing was real good, maybe it was the light rain and overcast skies or
maybe it was just the fact that I had to be home by 9. Well 9 a.m came and
went and the phone rang at 9:05, "Where are you"( Her favorite question),
I'm heading home now I reply. Regretfully I turn the boat towards the launch
and head back in. Arrival time home? 9:38 Pictures of Bass and the Lake are

Nice fish! But I hate "deadlines"....just one more cast :). Maybe that's
why I'm single right now <grin>. JK |

| Great pics! You've got me jealous. As far as the gorilla hookset, is
that the one you use for gorilla bass?
