Hooked a Monster
Was out fishing today and it was one of those days where you feel you could
win any tourney. Overcast and calm, 14 bass this morning and another 5-6
that popped free on the head shake. Most were between 1-3 pounds, But the
biggest fish never came into the boat.I was fishing docks and pads with the tiny brush hog. Rigged up on 6 pound
test on a spinning outfit. I flipped the hog to the base of the dock, felt a
thud and the fish starts moving in a hurry. I reel down and set the hook and
that's where the fun started. This fish takes off and starts spooling line,
the area is loaded with pads, but the fish bee lines for open water, about
30 feet away this fish busts water and spits my 1/0 hook. Talk about a
heartbreaker, this fish was every bit of 6 pounds plus maybe bigger. I was
sick I left that area and fished a while on the other side but it ate at me
like a rat on a piece of cheese. I had to go back over. I did, but never
found that fish again. I was hoping for a reaction strike or something but
she was gone. 8:45, time to head in. All in all fishing has been great. I
hope the rest of you are getting out. I'll post some pictures later |

That's never happened to me <grin>. Sounds like a great day on the
water...we miss a few, and most of the missed ones are the "bigger"
ones....reckon that's what makes us want to get back out there at first
light. The big bass are a tad craftier than the smaller ones...just give
em a big salute when they "win", then catch their big butt next time
around! :) JK |

| I said that myself today John, if I caught them all it wouldn't be fun
anymore. But man I'd like to see how it feels every now and then :-) "John Kerr" <jbkbub@webtv.net> wrote in message
