Fish/Depth Finder

I want to buy a portable fish/depth finder something with temp built in. Any suggestions?

Charles sold me his BottomLine SideFinder -- clamp-on unit with side-finder capability and temp gauge. It does a decent job of reporting the depth and temp. Runs on D-cells. About $50.

It's "Humminbird" and they are at the low end of the list. I have only seen one true portable and it resembles a trolling motor. Any brand can be made to be portable. Mount the transducer to the bottom of a long board and clamp it to the transom. You can add alligator clips for power direct from the battery or a cigarette lighter adapter if the boat(s) will have one of those outlets. The screen bracket can be mounted to a board or the top of a cooler (seen that one a few times).

If you want cheap and decent, try Eagle. If you want something better then the list is longer and a matter of preference.

I have owned Humminbird, Eagle/Lowrance, Raytheon/Raymarine, and Garmin so I'm not picking on Humminbird for the hell of it. They seem to last and they work - just not very well in my opinion.

The fishing buddy 1200 or I think they are up to 2200 model.

Not a bad design. Clamp works great on jon/row boats. They have a sidefinder that works well.
