OT-I'm out of here for a while......
Guys, I know that this is off-topic, but I just can't hold back the news
that was just confirmed this morning.I am packing up my wife Janet, my son Jim and my cameraman Randy and on July
2, getting on board an airplane. Sometime on July 3, I will be getting off
said airplane to begin a 14 day safari in South Africa! This has been a dream of mine since I saw my first Johnny Weismueller
"Tarzan" movie at age 5, that was 43 years ago. And now, I'm heading there
with my .300 Win Mag, my .50 caliber muzzleloader and a bow to shoot a
warthog and various plains game animals with Andrew McLaren Safaris in South
Africa. How cool is that? |

meats at the Northwoods Classic? |

| Unfortunately no. Customs regulations do not permit importation of the
meat. However, none of the meat will go to waste. What we do not consume
while on the trip (I've been promised a Wart Hog Stew that is not to be
believed), will be donated to local food pantries and villagers. I might
have some black bear steaks left, but I'm not so sure, it is pretty tasty
stuff. Never fear though, you won't go hungry on Saturday night at the Northwoods. |

| You know, I've done the same thing myself. I've had some great
opportunities for fantastic shots, only to remember that my camera was
sitting on my desk! I'm off to see about a better camera this afternoon. |

| Steve,
You give so much to so many, both professionally and personally. We're
all thrilled this life long dream has come to fruition. Not being a hunter
(and not being a judge of those who do) I hope you shoot at a zillion
animals and miss every one of them <grin>. And that you will still have the
time of a life time. Can't wait to see the pix of your misses. Be safe and
Godspeed.

| The only thing I can think that would make the trip better, would be not
having to fly in an airplane! See (or hear) from ya when you get back! |

| Very cool. Just watch the diet and what you drink. Don't need no nasty bugs
coming home with you or the family. Is that an inline muzzleloader? I just got me one so I can tune up before
the (white tail) season starts here in the Fall. Got me a T/C Omega. Taking
a large game critter in Africa with a muzzleloader, that is surely gonna be
a blast. Never been good with a bow, and when "gun" season starts...sheesh.
The woods are too crowded to hunt decently...so I'm going to give black
powder a try for a while since it is wedged in between the bow and regular
firearms seasons here... http://tinyurl.com/duod4 is the one I just got. Looking at scopes now... Enjoy the trip! |

| Dang! I am jealous. I have several authors that I read about African
hunting. With Capstick being a favorite. I have his films too. Would
love to go someday. Carlos |

| Great news, Steve. Find out if they got any bass while you are there,
and catch one. That would round out your trip. Glad it worked out. |

| LOL, I most certainly will. I'm sure at the end of this trip, my
taxidermist will love me and, my wife won't! She's desperately trying to
talk me out of shooting a warthog, and losing the battle. I WANT one of
those ugly puppies on the wall...... |

| It was nip and tuck there for a while, but we're finally going. If there's anyone from the group that's going to be in the Atlanta area this
weekend, let me know. I'll be there from about 9:00 in the morning on
Saturday until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday when I have to get back to the airport.
Maybe we can get together and swap some lies. |
