Help for Reel used for Bill Norman DD22
Anyone who throws deep diver cranks, 18 feet plus on the dive, what
reel/rod are you using?I am looking for a good reel to handle these type of lures. It's harder than you think to find a low gear ratio bait casting reel.
Shimano has one with 3.8:1. Found some spinning reels with low gear
ratios, but they are huge slatwater reels. Please help with any advice you can. Thanks in advance. Jesse |

| Buy the Shimano. I have had very good luck with my Shimanos. Bob La Londe

| I personally stay away from the "low" gear ratio. I find it's easier to reel
a 6.2.1 gear slower, than to speed up a 3.8.1 gear when a hooked fish
decides to swim towards you. JMO |

| Running these lures on a 6.2:1 is no longer an option for me. It's
just too tough. After about five casts, I am done with it. On Tue, 28 Jun 2005 21:59:08 -0400, "Jerry Barton" |

| I use the 4.7:1 Ambassadeurs to crank DD22s all day long.
For the rod, I use 7' or 7.5' medium/heavy with a slow tip. --
