low water pressure
Last week I noticed the water pressure on my Yamaha 225 was running from
5 to 7 pounds - about half what it normally runs. I tried trimming the
motor down and running different speeds - did not help.Anybody else have similar problems and any ideas on why it suddenly
dropped? There was nothing on the intakes and the motor was shooting a
good stream of water out the telltale. |

| the impeller is going bad..get it replaced before you get stranded with an
overheated engine. Been there-done that. |

| Either an impellor going bad or an obstruction in the motor. |

| HPDI, with the 'almost a nose cone' streamlined lower unit? I just spent the last two days fishing out of one, and the guy I was
with was paranoid about running it in weeds or in shallow/sandy areas.
Said it takes almost nothing to clog the intake, and that to take it
apart and clean it once it gets really clogged is an hour's work or more. |

| Thanks Rich - that's the one. I called my dealer and he told me the same
thing - I had hit the bottom idling over a shallow ridge and probalby
sucked up some dirt. Nothing visible, but apparently there is a spring
loaded thermostat or something similar in there that gets clogged
easily. Think I am going to take it to them first and watch - will know
next time. |
