hydraulic steering
Had hydraulic steering added last week to my Skeeter fish and ski with
a 150 Yamaha. Before I'm underway it works well. After I'm on plane,
it feels great turning to stbd and about the same as before hydraulic
steering to the port, very stiff. Before I go back to the dealer,
would love some opinions on if this is normal. Thanks. |

| Not having muscled your boat myself I can't tell you, but I can say that
hydraulic steering is not power steering. I'ld still talk to the dealer. |

| You still have to remember that you have a lot of torque being generated by
the prop to overcome. Hydraulic steering will reduce the felt torque, but
until you have the outboard trimmed to the proper angle, the steering is
going to feel stiff going against the prop's torque. It wouldn't hurt to have the dealer check everything out, but I have the
same thing with my Cobra. |

| Many thanks for the replies. Went out today and noticed that when I
had it properly trimmed the stiffness against the torque all but
disappeared. |
