My top 3 baits this year have been 1/4 ounce swim jig 3/8 ounce Premeire Pro Model Jig 3" Gitzit Tube jig with anywhere from a 1/8 ounce to a 3/8 ounce jig head.

I dont' really have a bottom 3 baits, because I have about a dozen rods on the deck that all get used at a particular time. I just don't give everything the time to be able to count it in, or out. I do throw a buzzbait a lot, and do catch fish, but I have used it as a search bait, and after catching a couple fish in an area on it, I usually clean up with a swim jig or flipping/pitching jig. I have started catching smallmouth in deeper water drop shotting , a technique that didn't get a lot of attention earlier in the year.

Oh well, those are my top 3.

Absolutely my top producing lure this year (taking size AND numbers into account) has been a green pumpkin Ozmo. Either flipping it in matted milfoil with a heavy, pegged slip sinker and rigged on a 3/0 Texposer, or casting/pitching it along outside weed edges and drop-offs, rigged on a 3/16 or 1/4oz Title SHot jighead. FWIW, I feel like that head has been my best discovery of the year. Super soft and salty baits last 3 to 5 times as long as when fishing them on a standard T-rig, hooking percentage is phenomenal, and a lot less time wasted tending to the rig. And I pretty much carry those grn pmkn Ozmos and one bag of 6" black grape worms for just about all conditions.

After that, it's definitely drop shotting. I'm sure I've caught MORE fish DSing than on the Oz, but the total poundage is probably a draw. Typical days for 2 guys DSing in the boat since mid-June have run 25 to 50 fish. It gets very tough to put it down and do something else.

If I gotta name a 3rd technique, it's likely a big, thumping, 3/4 ounce, single bladed spinnerbait.

Disappointing so far this year? Pad fishing has been singularly unproductive for me.

Cranking's been about average, but I don't crank all that much. I know my kid's been catching a lot more on crankbaits than usual for him.

I have caught fish on more differetn lures this year, but just haven't been able to get on the big fish so its a tough call.

Senkos have not been as strong as last year for me, but I have still caught my best fish on them. Several in the four pound range

Bass Pro XPS poppers (in two differnt sizes) have also done very well for me, with a 15 minute limit in a tournament only delayed by another angler cutting in front of me.

A baby brush hog did very well during prespawn in summer shadow spots. It just wacked them left and right. Nothing huge though.

I did get some good fish chase a swimming jig, but it just hasn't produced in the clutch so I have to give it a mixed review so far. I haven't flipped any fish this year with a jig.

Cranks have been a real disappointement. Last year I caught large numbers of good fish on cranks, and had a few real toads run off on me. This year they have just produced a few small fish here and there. I have managed to use them in a few circumstances where I saw repeat activity for some success. Places I would normally throw a wacky senko.
