Pre-Fishing

I totally forgot to tell you guys this. Gil and I had another chance to get a little fishing in together the other day.

We didn't get out terribly early, figuring that we'd fish the same time period that the NWC runs.

We got some missed hits on Flukes and Senkos, but my first solid hit came as I was working a Horny Toad on top. A good solid 16" fish blasted it just inside the weededge. We worked some excellent looking trees with little result other than a couple pike. Gil picked up probably the biggest bass of the day (3 pounds) on a spinnerbait worked off a deep weed edge. We continued to get a bass here and one there, most of them coming from weeds.

We weren't out long, probably 4 hours. I got a solid limit that probably went around 10 pounds, there were no really big bass taken that day, but it was fun and interesting to see how patterns change from day to day. Horny Toads produced the most fish, but the spinnerbait ranked a close second and had the biggest. I had more weight, he had big bass honors of the day. Senkos and fluke type lures did get some fish, but not like they had recently.

We've had a hot summer with little rain, so the lakes around here are down from regular levels. But with night time temps dropping into the 50's, the water temperatures have gotten out of the upper 80's. It's supposed to be in the mid 70's for the next week, with rain for the next couple days, so we're looking at some decent weather.

We're gonna have a ball, if anyone is considering coming, it's not too late to sign up, just send me an e-mail or log onto the appropriate thread on OutdoorFrontiers.com and let me know there. We have a somewhat unusual situation in that there's more boaters than non-boaters signed up, so you wouldn't even have to worry about towing your rig on up. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com
