I know the procedure for storing an outboard for winter, but I'm not too sure of what to use for "fogging" fluid. what is this stuff made of or any substitutes? TIA

Pat, if you are really unsure, it's best left to your dealer. You can also get a service manual for any engine made and your local deal will have the products you need to properly fog your engine. If I remember right the procedure is printed on the can.

You should also change out the lower unit fluid and check for signs of water. Good time to properly clean & grease your steering cables, which isn't always easy.

StarBrite and Pennzoil both make marine engine fogging sprays for storage of outboard motors. A simple google.com search will provide you with more links than you can shake a stick at. I'd also check with your local marina, they probably have the product on the shelf for those that want to do it themselves. Steve
