Try a senko. A big one. I was flipping the river witrh Hammer the other
day and we had a pretty slow bite. He was flipping some kinda creature bait
on a 1/4 oz weight. I was gettign the saem number of bites, but from
slightly bigger fish flipping a t-rigged 7" senko behind a 5/16
peggedtungsten sinker. Its amazing how you that bait just lsips right
through the heaviest cane and tulies. I was tossing it blind sometimes up
and over cover. Hammer would look at me like I was nuts, until we
invariably heard it go splash back there somewhere. LOL.

Bob:
I often use Wacky rigged Senko in the weedlines to catch smallmouth.
Usually use the 5 inchers. You would be amazed how well they work in
the open water too. Toss them out and let them sit, smallies love them.

In canals I like to toss wacky rigged senkos to the outside of sweeping
bends and let the current bounce them along. Not bad for smallies, but when
I take the kids we will split shot live minnows in the same places.
