bassmaster.com - a joke

In my email about 1 minute ago:

"Dear BASS Member,

On behalf of BASS and ESPN Outdoors we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being a BASS Member. We want to make certain that we are delivering on our promise to help you catch more bass and that your experiences with our online content and offline benefits are useful.

<snip>

We want to give you the information to land that next lunker and the first step is to take a special survey created especially for BASS Members. Your satisfaction is very important to us. Click here to begin the survey."

I clicked on the link and went to:

"Due to overwhelming responses this survey is currently closed. We look forward for your participation in future surveys. Thank you! "

Gee, it was nice of them to mention that my opinion was so much wanted just to shut this thing down even before they sent the email to me.

On that note, I'd _really_ like to see more information/articles on boats and boat electronics. It seems BASS, other mags and TV always focus on the same fishing techniques. It's always something "new"... which is almost always something that was done awhile ago but was pushed aside for something "new". Articles on livewells, how to store rods, some routine maintence, etc. These would make for a well rounded magazine.

Try Bassboater magazine or Trailer boats magazine, they have articles on various topics concerning those type of boats. Keep in mind, they are in print because the boating and fishing industry advertises in that publications(s). You will find almost every boat they evaluate passes the test, some minor flaws but even if the quality sucks, they don't tell you that directly. One reason I want my subscription to run out. I want the truth in a magazine I subscribe to, like Consumer Reports, if's it's a piece of crap, they tell you that. CR however does not evaluated fishing equipment as a rule.

Same thing happened to me. What a joke. Obviously they did not like the tone of the early returns so they shut it down. It would be interesting to have someone with contacts at BASS find out the truth behind the so called survey. I am sure Rucks would have a wonderful spin/excuse for their latest Ruck up. Pun intended! Joe Z.

I registered on-line for BASS info. ESPN took this as an invitation to SPAM me with all kinds of non BASS crap. Now anything from ESPN goes in the junk mail folder automatically. I miss the occassional legitimate BASS e-mail, but to be honest I never missed them before I signed up.
